Well, this is just disappointing.

After the big tease from the sheriff’s office about a big update, this is not what I wanted to hear.

Photo was taken by Walker Fire Department.

At 10 am this morning, July 1 , 2017, evacuation orders will be lifted for the communities/areas –

Blue Hills (power has been restored)
Upper Blue Hills (power has been restored)
Dewey/Humboldt
All areas west of SR 69 south to mile post 280. (west Poland Junction remains under evacuation)

The following communities remain under mandatory evacuation:

SR 69 – west side – from Grapevine Road north to Milepost 280.
Poland Junction- west side
Pine Flat
Breezy Pines
Walker
Potato Patch
Mount Union
Mountain Pine Acres

Please remember that fire personnel and equipment continue to require access even in areas where evacuations have been lifted. These firefighting efforts remain critical, so please drive slowly and offer them the courtesy they deserve. It is because of their work some communities are beginning to open up again.

Please note: For the Blue Hills/Upper Blue Hills area – Fire suppression sprinklers had been placed in various portions of the community.
Please keep these areas clear and allow fire officials access to do their work.

Again, all the Goodwin Fire cooperators wish to thank the community for their patience and understanding. We are working diligently to open more communities affected by fire as soon as safely possible.

Thanks,
Dwight Dwight D’Evelyn
